Paintings that
carry a legacy.
Commissioned portraits and narrative works in oil and tempera, built from conversation, sittings, and the story you want to keep.
"A commissioned piece starts with what matters to you: a formative experience, a guiding principle, someone whose character has had a great impact. The things you want your family and community to hold to. My job is to find a way to make those things visible."
A commission begins with a conversation.
Every commission starts with what matters to you: a person, a place, a story worth keeping. John usually visits the space where the work will live, develops a small composition and color study so his interpretation matches your vision, then completes the final piece.
