The Tahoe Arts League is thrilled to announce a special three-day workshop with acclaimed artist John Darley, who will be teaching the art of painting portraits in egg tempera on June 16-18, 2025. This exclusive event offers a rare opportunity for artists of all levels to explore the luminous and time-honored medium of egg tempera under the guidance of a master.

John Darley is widely recognized for his expertise in portrait and figure painting, particularly in egg tempera, a relatively unique but ancient painting medium. With over a decade of experience and mastery in traditional techniques, John will lead students through the process of creating a portrait using egg tempera, from panel preparation and pigment mixing to layering and refining details. Additionally, John will guide students through beautifully staging the portrait in a landscape scene of nearby Lake Tahoe.

The workshop will take place at Tahoe Art League on June 16-18, 2025 from 10am to 3pm. Spaces are limited, and early registration is encouraged. The fee for the workshop is $350 for members and $370 for non members. A list of supplies students will need to bring will be provided upon registration.
